The Cambridgeshire & Bedfordshire group of the Hardy Plant Society is presenting a lecture on Zoom at 2 pm (sign in from 1.30) on Saturday afternoon, 5th December entitled “PREPARING FOR THE PERFECT SPRING”. The lecturer is TAMSIN WESTHORPE.
Tamsin is an experienced horticultural journalist, gardener, RHS Chelsea Flower Show Judge, co-Chair of The Garden Media Guild and lecturer. She is a practised zoom speaker and has presented many talks to clubs over the lockdown.
With over 25 years’ experience in the horticulture industry, Tamsin has plenty of practical, hands-on advice to share. During her career she edited The English Garden magazine for six years, has also written scripts for gardening TV shows, lectured at Kingston Maurward College in Dorset and cared for parks and gardens. She is now a freelance writer and curator and gardener of Stockton Bury Gardens, Herefordshire (listed by The Times in the top 20 gardens to visit July 2017).
Chris Strachan will be co-hosting the meeting with Tamsin..
You may already be familiar with Zoom as many organisations are using it in this current crisis. You will need either a computer with built in camera (you can take part without a camera but the rest of the people taking part won’t be able to see your face!), iPad or similar tablet, or a smart phone. Then you will need to download the Zoom app from the zoom website or from apple apps. The app is free and it is very easy to download. If anyone would like some help with setting up or using zoom or has any questions then Chris Strachan is happy to be contacted email@example.com , mobile: 07708 442634.
If you wish to join in and hear the lecture you will need to contact Chris to obtain an ID number and Password to be able to access the meeting. Please give Chris adequate notice about wanting the ID and Password, don’t leave it until just before the meeting is due to start! Chris can also send you a document entitled “Zoom using a Windows PC or laptop – basic instructions for joining a meeting” so please ask her for this if you think it would be helpful.
The committee of the HPS group would be very grateful for a contribution of £3 towards the cost. Chris will supply details on payment methods.
